Beyond the Shot: Personal Insights & Inspiration
Embarking on a path, sharing all I find on the way.
Me
I’m Alex, a photographer, writer, and now AI art newbie. I started with photography back in the early ’90s during a SCOTVEC module, messing around with composition and darkroom stuff, always lugging a Kodak 35mm. Life took me into writing, comics, and digital forensics, but I kept snapping pics on the side. Mobile photography with an iPhone really got me hooked again and now I have a choice of 35mm film cameras and my trusted Nikon D5600.

That love grew into also trying AI art, starting with “Shattered Seagull’s Gaze,” which came from my love for Salvador Dalí’s Metamorphosis of Narcissus and my Stoic habit, check my “Memento Mori” tattoo on my hand! Viewfinder Chronicles tracks this mix of old-school and new-school creativity, sharing:
- Photography book & course reviews – Digging into stuff that shapes my skills.
- Interviews with photographers – Chatting with folks I look up to.
- Creative projects – From black and white shots to AI experiments.
- Gear & technique breakdowns – Testing tools for camera and code.
- The struggles & breakthroughs – Keeping it honest about the highs and lows.
I think storytelling with a camera or code is something I’ll never stop learning from. Through Viewfinder Chronicles, I want to connect with anyone who loves creating, whether you’re just starting or have been at it forever.
