I’ve never entered a photography competition before, but the 2025 Daylight Photo Awards have definitely caught my attention. With a top prize of $2,500 and a digital portfolio, plus exposure through Daylight’s marketing campaigns, this competition seems like a fantastic opportunity for photographers looking to showcase their work on a larger stage.

What makes this award stand out is its impressive panel of jurors, which includes Elizabeth Avedon, an independent curator and book designer; Emily Bogle, senior visual editor at NPR; Bridget Harris, Director of Photography Creative at Airbnb; Oscar Rivera, Managing Director at En Foco; and Asha Iman Veal, Associate Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago. Their collective experience spans across editorial, branding, curatorial, and visual storytelling—making them an ideal group to assess innovative and compelling photographic work.
Previous winners of the Daylight Photo Awards include renowned photographers like Verena Bruening, Takako Kido, Vikesh Kapoor, Donavon Smallwood, and Bryan Schutmaat, among others. With such a history of spotlighting exceptional talent, it’s clear that this competition has the potential to propel emerging photographers into greater recognition.

The submission deadline is May 1st, 2025, with winners announced in August. If you’re considering entering a photography competition, this one might just be the perfect place to start. I’m still debating whether to submit my own work, but either way, I’m excited to see the incredible talent that will emerge from this year’s entries.
